Details
DOVETAIL, originally named GERIFAY, is a classic 72′ yacht built by John Trumpy and Sons in 1972. It served as the Committee Boat for the 1974 America’s Cup Races. Featuring an enclosed pilothouse and a spacious full-width galley, DOVETAIL boasts a beam of 18′ and a draft of 4’5″. The hull is constructed of steam-bent oak framing and double-planked mahogany, showcasing impeccable craftsmanship and modernized systems.
From 2017 to 2020, DOVETAIL underwent a major restoration costing over $1 million. Key upgrades include new Cummins QSM-11 650 hp engines, a fully refitted engine room, new gears, shafts, props, exhaust system, and upgraded electrical service. Further mechanical and cosmetic enhancements were completed, including a redesigned galley, full hull repaint, new steering engineering, and new teak decks on the aft deck in 2023.
